Air Density gauge
In Motorsport, where every detail can make a difference, it is essential to measure tire pressure and temperature with extreme accuracy. As the only point of contact between the vehicle and the track, their performance is crucial to achieving the best results on track.
Starting from this premise, Prisma Electronics introduces the new HiPreMa 5 line of instruments. This fifth generation of precision instruments stands out especially for its integration with a dedicated app, allowing WIRELESS connection to all models in the new line. Thanks to the app, you can download and view session data, export it to Excel or PDF, share it on the cloud with team members, and configure the instruments quickly and intuitively.
What's New First !
Accuracy
With HPM5, pressure resolution is 0.001 BAR / 0.01 PSI, ensuring precision and reliability, which are essential in many Motorsport categories like MotoGP, Superbike, GT Endurance, and others, where tire manufacturers impose mandatory minimum pressures. Using such a precise instrument allows for highly repeatable measurements, minimizing the risk of penalties for pressures below the limits set by manufacturers. With HPM5, every measurement is error-free.
The resolution can be adjusted according to your needs by removing the third decimal place (or the second in the case of PSI) when it's not required. In Motorsport, accuracy is never too much!
Configurable Operating Modes via Quick-Function Buttons
The operating modes of HPM5 instruments can be easily configured using the quick-function buttons. In just a few moments, you can activate/deactivate various functions developed based on feedback from the teams we work with in major two-wheel and four-wheel championships.
Pressure OFFSET
This feature allows you to set an offset value for the pressure, hiding the actual set value. This is useful, for example, in the pit lane or on the starting grid, when you want to hide the exact pressure value for strategic reasons. When the offset is active, the display shows the modified value, but you can always adjust the pressures accordingly. This function can be quickly activated or deactivated at any time using the quick-function buttons.
Is it only to hide the actual value from prying eyes?
Not only. The Pressure Offset function can also be used to calibrate the instrument with TPMS sensors that do not properly detect zero relative to atmospheric pressure.
Pit-Stop Function
By enabling this function, the instrument displays the PIT symbol on the screen, specifically designed for GT Endurance races. During a pit stop, it's essential to measure and record the pressure when entering the pit and later adjust it to the target pressure (for example, after a rider change). Simply insert the instrument, adjust the target pressure, and remove the gauge without pressing any buttons. The Pit In (pressure when entering the pits) and Pit Out (pressure set for Pit Out) values are automatically stored.
HOT / COLD PRESSURE
You can choose to store 8 pressure values (Cold and Hot) or just 4 pressure values. This is useful if you only want to measure Pit-Out or Pit-In pressures. Similarly, in Moto configuration, there will be only 4 or 2 pressure values.
P/T Function (Pressure/Temperature)
Activating this function automatically switches the instrument from pressure measurement mode to tire temperature measurement mode. The display automatically shows the sequence to follow to measure and store tire pressures and temperatures:
- Tire pressure
- Outer tire temperature
- Middle tire temperature
- Inner tire temperature
This sequence repeats for all four tires in Auto mode and for two tires in Bike mode. The procedure for measuring hot pressures and temperatures must be done as quickly as possible, and having a set procedure within the instrument helps minimize errors. This function can also be activated or deactivated quickly using the quick-function buttons.
Instrument Connection with the App
This fifth generation of precision instruments stands out especially for its integration with a dedicated app, allowing connection to all models in the new line. Thanks to the app, you can download and view session data, export it to Excel or PDF, share it on the cloud with team members, and configure the instruments quickly and intuitively.
Why is it useful to download the data to the App?
The amount of data collected during each race weekend is increasingly massive. To gain an accurate understanding of track conditions and tire performance, it's essential to consider various factors:
- AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURE, which can vary significantly between morning and afternoon sessions.
- TARMAC TEMPERATURE, closely related to air temperature but variable depending on the type of track.
- TIRE PRESSURE, both cold and hot, to understand the dynamic balance of the vehicle.
- TIRE TEMPERATURES, to ensure they operate within the optimal temperature range.
- VEHICLE NUMBER
- DATE AND TIME of each session
All these parameters must be measured and recorded during each session, generating a large volume of data that is often difficult to gather and visualize quickly for in-depth analysis. The data collected can then be:
- Analyzed – By browsing through the various sessions on the app.
- Shared – Each session or a group of sessions can be shared among team members. You can create a cloud folder where each session is saved and accessed by members of the team.
- Localized – Each session is localized on the track where it's recorded. You’ll have the entire list of sessions for that specific track.
- Imported – You can import one or more sessions into your app. For example, if a team member has reference sessions for a specific track to evaluate pressures and temperatures, you can receive the data and import it into your app.
- Exported – You can export one or more sessions in Excel format for processing, or simply export in PDF format. If you want to send a session quickly via WhatsApp to a team member, you can export the session to PDF and send it directly.
Data Export for Stopwatch Versions
The Stopwatch versions of the HPM5 line also offer the ability to download data to the App, view it and export it in Excel format. With the ability to store up to 5 sessions, each containing the times of 4 drivers and their split times, it has become essential to be able to review the sessions via the App, share them and export them to Excel for archiving or detailed analysis.
Air Density Gauge
The Air Density gauge, designed for 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines, measures parameters such as temperature, pressure, humidity, altitude, and density, and allows you to store sessions to optimize carburation based on environmental conditions, improving engine performance.
Air density is determined by the amount of air present per unit of volume and depends on ambient air temperature, pressure, and humidity. When air density changes, it directly affects the amount of oxygen available for combustion in the engine cylinder, influencing engine performance. Denser air contains more oxygen, allowing for more fuel to be burned, increasing combustion efficiency.
The introduction of Prisma Electronics' new instruments marks a turning point in Motorsport, addressing two major challenges in the sector: the need for precise measurements and the ability to analyze the collected data.
