How to Configure and Use the HPM5 Tire Pressure Gauges and Pyrometers
This blog post will guide you step by step through the setup of the HPM5 instrument line.
In the attached video, we show how to configure and use the digital pressure gauge with tire temperature pyrometer and multi-rider stopwatch.
We chose this model because it represents the most complete version of the HPM5 range, including:
✅ Digital gauge for tire pressure
✅ Pyrometer for tread temperature measurement
✅ Multi-rider stopwatch to time up to 4 drivers with intermediate splits.
If you own a model without the pyrometer or stopwatch, you can still follow this guide:
🔹 If you have only the HPM5 Gauge, some functions like the Pyrometer and Stopwatch will not be available.
🔹 If you have the STW Stopwatch, you can skip to the dedicated section (minute 03:10 in the video) to view the stopwatch-specific features.
How to Configure the Instrument
You can configure the instrument using the Prisma Electronics APP or via the onboard menu. The only features that must be set directly via the device menu are the Quick Functions, designed to be quickly Enabled/Disabled based on the desired scenario (e.g., during a Pit Stop).
Configuration via Menu
To access the instrument menu, simply press the MENU button. It has been designed to be as intuitive as possible, so no guide is needed to use it.
Once inside the menu, the display will show which buttons to press for each function.

If the instrument language is set to Italian, the menu will appear in Italian. Same for English and French.
In Stopwatch mode, the L1/MENU button is also used to time Driver #1. If you briefly press it, the timer for Driver #1 will start. To access the configuration menu, press and HOLD the button.
Once in the menu, just follow the on-screen instructions for each setting.
Configuration via Prisma Electronics APP

You can also configure your instrument using the Prisma Electronics APP, except for the Quick Functions, which must be enabled/disabled directly from the device.
Steps:
1️⃣ Connect the instrument to the APP
2️⃣ Go to “Instrument Configuration”
3️⃣ View the available settings (these vary depending on the connected model)
Which Functions You Can Configure on HPM5
Tire Pressure and Temperature Settings
- Vehicle type: Car or Motorcycle
- BAR or PSI for pressure units
- Degrees Celsius °C or Fahrenheit °F for temperature
- Choose which tire to start measuring from - Rear or Front
- Clockwise or Counterclockwise rotation
- Display cold vs hot pressure difference
- Automatic saving of hot pressures without pressing any buttons
- Enable/Disable vehicle number
Quick Functions
- Pressure Offset
- Pit Stop Mode
- HOT Pressure Function
- Automatic Pressure/Temperature sequence with 3 different temperature memory modes

A=19.0°C Ambient Air Temperature
T=18.9°C Track Temperature.
Pressure Gauge Mode
When the instrument is powered on, the 4 wheels (2 for motorcycles) appear, showing which tire to start the measurement sequence from.

No button needs to be pressed: simply insert the valve into the tire and the instrument will automatically display the pressure.

You can store the pressure value by pressing the MEM buttons. Repeat the same process for each tire; the device guides you through the entire process.
Want to use the instrument without saving any values? Very easy: turn it on, insert the probe into the valve, and the pressure will appear on the display automatically (see image above).
Pyrometer Mode for Tire Temperatures
By pressing the MODE button, the instrument switches to Pyrometer mode for measuring and saving tread, ambient air, and track temperatures.

You can record up to 12 tread temperature points, plus 1 for ambient air and 1 for track. If one of the automatic temperature modes is enabled (e.g., EST-CENTER-INT or INT-CENTER-EST), the display tells you where to take the next measurement (e.g., REAR LEFT INT). Once the temperature stabilizes, press one of the MEM buttons to save the value. Use the Air and Track buttons to save ambient and track temps. Super easy!

A=19.0°C Ambient Air Temperature
T=18.9°C Track Temperature.
